Music In School

We understand the important role that music contributes towards school life, both in and out of the classroom. This can sometimes be hard to communicate or advocate for when there are so many other subjects to contend with and focus on.

If you are looking to drive improvement of music provision in your school, we have created a handy Music Development Plan for schools to use, linked for you below. Our guide can help you to create a vision for music in your school, assess your current music provision and create an action plan for improvement.

The Music Development Plan is a helpful tool to aid self-assessment of your music curriculum, tuition and ensembles in your school, singing and music in school life.

If you are looking for help to improve music in the school, you can contact our School Support Team or your Area Manager who can help.

There are many organisations out there who are ready to help schools advocate for high quality music making. Music Mark are the UK’s biggest association for music education, membership can be applied for through Kent Music. Find out more about that on our dedicated Music Mark page.

Music Mark have created some fantastic resources to support teachers and music leads to advocate for music making in their school. Their #10Things article series provides information on the benefits of music making including information on the important contribution music can make to school life.
